Since the launch of our Team Psychological Safety (TPS) Certification Program in December, TPS has been a recurring theme in our discussions. It’s a concept we’ve frequently highlighted, but now, it’s time to move beyond the buzzword and let the voices of those who have experienced the program take centre stage. Rather than just talking about the benefits of TPS, we are excited to share firsthand accounts from our past certification participants, showcasing how the program has made a tangible impact on their professional lives and their teams
Fostering an atmosphere where team members feel safe to take risks, voice their opinions, and engage in open communication is crucial for organisational success. This concept, known as Team Psychological Safety (TPS), plays a vital role in enhancing team collaboration and performance. Our Team Psychological Safety Certification Program is designed to provide participants with the tools and knowledge needed to cultivate this essential element within their teams. Here’s a closer look at what TPS is, and how our certification program has made a significant impact, as shared by our past participants.
What is Team Psychological Safety?
Amy Edmonson defines Team Psychological Safety as “a shared belief by members of a team that they are safe for interpersonal risk taking”. It’s an environment where team members feel comfortable challenging the status quo and exploring new ideas. This safety is crucial for fostering innovation, collaboration, and overall team effectiveness.
Our Team Psychological Safety Practitioner Certification Program equips participants with solid foundations, insights from experienced practitioners, and practical strategies and tools to harness the power of TPS within their organisations. Here’s how past participants have experienced the benefits of the program:
1. Practical Application of Theoretical Knowledge
Firstly, the essence of our program is that we focus on actionable strategies and real-life scenarios. This ensures that participants can directly apply what they’ve learned to enhance their team dynamics. Each team assessed will be equipped with a comprehensive report that describes each of the seven TPS elements. The report can be used as the foundation of a team development program by an external coach or facilitator, or as the first step to develop new or adjusted management routines for a team leader. Stephanie Van Aken from Ideas Academy found that the program’s practical approach made a significant difference. She shared;
“What stands out for me is the practicality of everything I've learned, it's not just theoretical, but highly actionable and doable in real-life scenarios. The clarity of ideas on how to apply this knowledge in my daily life is what makes this learning journey exceptionally useful. This program has helped me in coming up with tangible interventions that I'm eager to implement, not just for personal development but also in my role as an educator. I can see the immediate value of bringing these insights”
In addition to this, Melanie Aloysius, the CEO of People’s Potential also highlighted how the team assessment has helped her in gaining deeper insights into team dynamics, helping leaders to identify patterns and make informed decisions about interventions. Here is what she has to say;
“The frameworks, the base, the elements were well structured. I believe having the report about my team is very helpful for me to learn about them and how to work with them as the report made me realize that we do not necessarily have to do an intervention but rather to understand where our team stands as individuals. Because I realised that it's not what I have to change, but what are the patterns I have to see about my team and if there are methodologies that can help me see them better.”
2. Breaking Barriers and Empowering Engagement
Additionally, our program also fosters a supportive environment where all participants feel encouraged to contribute and engage, regardless of their background or previous experiences.Dr. Anthony Chong, Co-founder and Secretary of the Malaysian Sign Language and Deaf Studies Association, highlighted the program’s inclusive atmosphere. He noted;
“Throughout my life, being deaf has often kept me in a quiet and passive role, surrounded by hearing individuals where the opportunity to ask questions is limited. However, this program has made me feel empowered to question and engage actively. The inclusive atmosphere of this program has been a game-changer, breaking the barriers that held me back. I am inspired to consider what I can do for the deaf community, not only in Malaysia but on a global scale.”
3. Deepening Understanding and Fresh Perspective on Team Dynamics
Moreover, our certification program uses real-life case studies and intentional activities helps participants grasp the nuances of TPS and how to implement it effectively in their teams. Not only is the program versatile and beneficial for HR professionals but also for anyone in a corporate environment looking to improve leadership and team dynamics. Shazlin Suleiman, the Vice President, Strategic Human Capital Management at Khazanah Nasional, shared how the certification provided a new perspective and tools for team development. She commented;
"Having focused primarily on leadership development in our work, attending this certification has been a game-changer. It's given me a fresh perspective and a new toolkit for fostering team development. While there's still some groundwork to cover before fully implementing these strategies within my team, I now have clarity on the questions and steps necessary to move forward. I definitely recommend this certification for anyone seeking to enhance not just to HR people but to anyone in a corporation that seeks ways to manage leadership skills and team dynamics. I find that it's a versatile tool that empowers you to manage leaders and teams with greater effectiveness.”
4. Evidence-Based and Research-Backed Insights
Not only that, our program is part of the prestigious "TEAM.AS.ONE" network, developed based on research of industry-leading experts with years of experience in team psychology and organisational dynamics. This focus on evidence-based practices ensures that participants receive reliable and applicable knowledge to support their TPS initiatives. Lily Lau, a Master Trainer in Colored Brain & Directive Communication Psychology, appreciated the program’s research-backed content. She stated;
"As someone who is familiar with the Psychology industry, I came with an open mind, drawn by the emphasis on 'psychology’ of this certification. After attending it these 2 days, I can say that this program is highly fact-driven and research-backed, which sets it apart from the often abstract discussions surrounding psychology. I appreciate how effective and well-supported the content is. Additionally, despite being completed in just two days, the certification process was not draining for me physically and mentally as a trainer."
5. Practical Strategies for Real-World Challenges
In addition, the program’s emphasis on practical strategies equips participants with the tools they need to address real-world challenges and foster a culture of psychological safety. Participants will discover the concept of TPS, the theoretical origins and components, and apply the concept on real-life cases. They will design interventions using TPS as a foundation on which to build team effectiveness and efficiency, and to sustain the team performance. Logappriya Rajendran, Training Manager and Employee Experience Practice Lead at Alcon, valued the practical approach of the certification. She said;
“I particularly appreciated the intervention design practice, where we used real-life cases. This practical approach helped me relate the concepts to industry practices and identify effective strategies for my organisation. I also value the diverse perspectives offered through the interventions, which provided comprehensive solutions to our challenges."

Through practical strategies, evidence-based insights, and a supportive learning environment, our participants leave with the confidence to foster inclusive, high-performing teams that thrive in today’s dynamic work environment.
